If you are outdoors people, then this is a must. We would suggest going earlier in the day to avoid the heat and feeling rushed for any evening plans. You truly could spend a whole day at the park, but 4 to 5 hours is enough time to see everything. We drove through the park on our first visit to Palm Springs and we would encourage you to make a few stops and even climb on some of the rocks!
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering picturesque and spectacular vistas of the valley floor below. Once you reach the Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet—enjoy two restaurants, observation decks, natural history museum, two documentary theaters, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.
Golf in some of the finest golfing courses in the world. PGA West is one of many golf courses that you can golf at in the Palm Desert area. We would encourage you to look around, but we did get a chance to walk this course since we almost got married here and it is a beautiful course. It is also close to the venue!
While we did not get a chance to visit the zoo, we have been told by literally everyone that it is a fantastic way to spend your day. The Living Desert is home to over 500 animals representing over 150 species. You probably only need 2 to 3 hours here.
Feeling lucky? Head to the local casino, located in Rancho Mirage. While we haven't been ourselves (because Sara only knows how to lose money), we've been told it's a good time! This casino is the closest in the valley, but feel free to check out the other casinos in the area.
This is a great upscale shopping district with large offerings of eating and shopping. We worked from a coffee shop here on our first visit to the area and did our wedding food tastings at a restaurant here on our second visit.
This is the main street in Palm Springs that has a large offering of food, drinks, and shops. Head here for a good happy hour or walk the street to do a little shopping. We bought some artwork for our home on this street!
Lounge By The Pool With A Martini
Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and the surrounding area is best known for lounging by the pool with a martini glass in your hand. Depending on where you are staying, you may already have a pool at your property or you can pay for a pool pass at a pool near you. There are also a handful of spas in the area that are a google search away.
